Wood Gathering
More actions
Wood Gathering refers to the activity of sending march parties to Wood resource tiles on the world map to collect lumber for construction and research.
Overview
Wood is one of the most universally needed resources in Whiteout Survival, required for constructing and upgrading nearly every building. Wood Gathering sends marches to forest tiles on the world map, where troops collect Wood and return it to your city.
Wood Tile Levels
Wood tiles appear at various levels across the world map:
| Tile Level | Wood Available | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Low | Very common throughout the map |
| Level 2 | Moderate | Widely available |
| Level 3 | High | Less common, competition varies |
| Level 4 | Very High | Rare, often in mid-map zones |
| Level 5 | Massive | Very rare, heavily contested |
How to Gather
- Open the world map and locate Wood tile icons (depicted as tree/forest imagery).
- Tap the tile to see available Wood and current occupants.
- Tap "Gather" and select your march configuration.
- Troops travel to the tile, collect Wood, and return when full or when the tile is empty.
Improving Gathering Efficiency
Heroes
Assign heroes with Gathering Speed or Load bonuses to lead your Wood gathering marches. These heroes reduce travel and gathering time while increasing the amount collected per march.
Research
The Economy Research tree includes technologies that specifically boost Wood gathering:
- Wood Gathering Speed — reduces time per gathering trip
- Load Capacity — increases how much Wood each march can carry
- Wood Production — boosts passive Wood output from production buildings
Chief Gear
Equipping Gathering Chief Gear is one of the best ways to maximize Wood gathering efficiency. The Gathering gear set provides significant bonuses to gathering speed and march capacity.
Alliance Territory
Alliances that control territory gain access to resource tiles within that territory. High-level Wood tiles in alliance-controlled zones are often reserved for members.
Multiple Gathering Marches
Unlocking additional march slots through the Command Center and research allows you to run multiple gathering marches simultaneously. Maximizing simultaneous marches is the most impactful way to increase Wood income.
Wood Usage
Wood is consumed heavily by:
- Building construction and upgrades
- Some research technologies
- Certain gear crafting recipes
Because Wood is needed for nearly all construction, maintaining a large stockpile is important for rapid city development.
Tips
- Gather constantly: Wood is always needed — never leave marches idle if Wood tiles are available.
- Upgrade Command Center: More march slots means more simultaneous gathering — always a good investment.
- Balance with other resources: If your Coal or Meat is lower, redirect some marches to those resources instead.
- Gather gear pays off quickly: Even a partial Gathering gear set dramatically increases returns per trip.
- Alliance coordination: Ask your alliance to mark or call tiles to avoid competition with teammates.
