The Watchtower is a defensive building in Whiteout Survival that provides intelligence about enemy activity and helps protect your city from surprise attacks.

Overview

The Watchtower monitors the surrounding area around your city and alerts you when enemy scouts or attacking marches are approaching. Upgrading the Watchtower extends the detection range and provides earlier warnings of incoming threats.

Functions

Enemy Detection

When enemy scouts or attacking armies approach your city, the Watchtower provides a notification. Higher-level Watchtowers detect threats from greater distances, giving you more time to:

  • Activate a peace shield
  • Send troops on a march to avoid them being killed in a defense
  • Rally your alliance for support
  • Reinforce your defenses

Scout Intelligence

The Watchtower also determines whether enemy scouts can gather intelligence about your city. A higher-level Watchtower can:

  • Detect when your city is being scouted
  • Potentially reveal the identity of the scouting player
  • Reduce the effectiveness of enemy reconnaissance

Trap Effectiveness

At higher levels, the Watchtower may increase the effectiveness of any defensive traps placed around your city perimeter.

Upgrading

Each Watchtower upgrade:

  • Increases detection range
  • Improves scout counter-intelligence
  • Requires meeting Furnace level prerequisites
  • Consumes Wood and Coal

Tips

  • Upgrade early: An early warning from the Watchtower can prevent devastating attacks by giving you time to shield up or evacuate resources.
  • Pay attention to alerts: Enable notifications so Watchtower warnings don't go unnoticed while you're playing.
  • Combine with Storehouse protection: While the Watchtower warns you of attacks, the Storehouse protects your resources if the attack succeeds — use both.
  • Scout enemies first: Use the information from your own scouts combined with Watchtower alerts to make informed defensive decisions.
