Construction

Construction in Whiteout Survival refers to the process of building, upgrading, and managing all the structures within your city. It is the foundation of city development and gates access to nearly all other game systems.
Overview
Your city consists of many different buildings, each serving a specific function. Constructing and upgrading these buildings is the primary driver of city development. Construction takes time and resources, both of which scale significantly with building level.
Construction Queue
By default, players can work on one construction job at a time. A second construction queue can be unlocked through:
- VIP level perks
- Special items or events
- Certain game milestones
Having two active construction queues dramatically accelerates city development — always unlock the second queue as early as possible.
Construction Time
Construction time varies dramatically based on:
- Building level (higher levels = much longer times)
- The specific building type
- Construction Speed bonuses from heroes, research, and gear
At high levels, single building upgrades can take days or even weeks without speedups.
Speeding Up Construction
Construction Speed Bonuses
These reduce the base time of every construction job:
- **Eugene** — The primary Construction hero; assign him to a building slot for massive speed bonuses
- **Growth Research** — Construction Speed research technologies reduce all build times
- **Construction Chief Gear** — Gear sets focused on construction speed
- **VIP Level** — Higher VIP provides construction speed bonuses
Speedups
Construction Speedups instantly remove time from the active construction queue. Universal speedups can also be used.
Alliance Help
Each active construction job can receive help from alliance members. Every help click removes a small percentage of construction time — a fully active alliance can collectively remove hours from large jobs.
Construction Costs
Building upgrades cost resources proportional to their level. Common construction materials include:
Furnace Gate
The Furnace is the central building that governs maximum building levels across the entire city. No building can exceed the level cap set by the current Furnace level. Upgrading the Furnace is therefore the highest priority action to unlock new development tiers.
Tips
- Always have construction running: Never leave your construction queue idle — there's always something to upgrade.
- Assign Eugene: Eugene's construction speed bonus is massive — always keep him in an active building slot.
- Request alliance help every time: The free speedup time from alliance help costs you nothing — always click "Request Help."
- Upgrade the Furnace first: Furnace upgrades unlock new building levels across the board — prioritize them.
- Plan upgrades in advance: Use a second queue on a lower-priority building while your main queue handles the important upgrade.
- Use Construction Gear: Swapping to Construction Chief Gear before starting large jobs saves meaningful time.
