Resources are the core materials used to build and upgrade structures, train troops, conduct research, and sustain your city in Whiteout Survival. There are four primary resources: Meat, Wood, Coal, and Iron.

The Four Resources

Meat

Meat is the primary food resource in Whiteout Survival. It is consumed by your population and troops.

  • Production: Hunting camps and farms within the city
  • Uses: Troop training, building upgrades, research
  • Gathering: Gatherable from resource tiles on the world map
  • Protection: Protected by the Storehouse

Wood

Wood is a basic construction material used in building upgrades and research.

  • Production: Lumber mills and woodcutting camps
  • Uses: Building construction, upgrades, research
  • Gathering: Gatherable from forest tiles on the world map
  • Protection: Protected by the Storehouse

Coal

Coal is an energy resource critical for powering the Furnace and sustaining advanced operations.

  • Production: Coal mines within the city
  • Uses: Furnace fuel, building upgrades, research, troop training
  • Gathering: Gatherable from coal deposit tiles on the world map
  • Protection: Protected by the Storehouse

Iron

Iron is an advanced crafting material used primarily for military buildings and high-tier troop training.

  • Production: Iron mines and smelters
  • Uses: Military building upgrades, troop training (higher tiers), research
  • Gathering: Gatherable from iron deposit tiles on the world map
  • Protection: Protected by the Storehouse

Resource Production

Resources are produced continuously by city buildings. Production rates depend on:

  • Building level — Higher-level production buildings produce more per hour
  • Research bonuses — Economy Research tree improves production rates
  • Hero skills — Development heroes with gathering/production skills boost output
  • State buffs — Alliance or state-wide buffs can temporarily increase production

Gathering Resources

Beyond city production, resources can be gathered from the world map:

  1. Send troops to resource tiles on the map (forests, mines, farms, etc.)
  2. Troops gather resources and return to the city when complete or when the tile is depleted
  3. Gathering speed and capacity are improved through research and hero skills
  4. Higher-tier troops can carry more resources per march

Resource Protection

Your resources can be stolen by enemy players during attacks. The Storehouse protects a fixed amount of each resource:

  • Resources within the Storehouse limit cannot be plundered
  • Resources above the limit are at risk during attacks
  • Upgrade the Storehouse to protect more of your stockpile
  • Resources in your protected limit scale with Storehouse level

Resource Usage

Building Upgrades

Each building requires specific amounts of Meat, Wood, Coal, and Iron to upgrade. Higher-level buildings require exponentially more resources.

Troop Training

Training troops costs resources:

  • Lower tier troops (T1-T5) primarily require Meat and Wood
  • Higher tier troops (T6+) require Iron and Coal in addition
  • FC-tier troops require large quantities of all resources plus Fire Crystals

Research

Research technologies require resources proportional to their tier and importance. Economy Research helps reduce these costs over time.

Tips

  • Always keep production buildings at maximum level for passive income.
  • Send gathering marches regularly — idle gathering capacity is wasted production.
  • Upgrade the Storehouse to protect your resources, especially before going offline.
  • Join an active alliance to benefit from resource sharing and alliance aid.
  • Use resource boosts (from events or packs) during periods of heavy construction or troop training.
  • Balance all four resources — avoid overproducing one type while neglecting others.

  • Buildings — Production buildings for each resource type
  • Research — Economy research tree for production bonuses
  • Heroes — Development heroes that boost gathering and production
  • Events — Events that reward large quantities of resources
