Troop Training
More actions
Troop Training is the process of recruiting and producing new soldiers for your army in Whiteout Survival. Troops are trained at military camp buildings and are essential for combat, gathering, and event participation.
Overview
Troops are your primary military asset. Training new troops replenishes losses from combat, expands your army for events, and increases your city's overall combat power. The three troop types — Infantry, Lancer, and Marksman — are trained at their respective camp buildings.
Training Buildings
Each troop type has its own dedicated training building:
| Building | Troop Type Trained |
|---|---|
| Infantry Camp | Infantry troops |
| Lancer Camp | Lancer troops |
| Marksman Camp | Marksman troops |
All three camps can run training queues simultaneously, allowing you to produce all three troop types at the same time.
Troop Tiers
Troops are available in multiple tiers, with higher tiers being significantly more powerful but more expensive to train:
| Tier | Unlock Requirement | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Tier 1 | Available from start | Cheap, fast, but weak |
| Tier 2 | Furnace Level 6+ | Balanced cost and power |
| Tier 3 | Furnace Level 11+ | Strong, requires Iron |
| Tier 4 | Furnace Level 16+ | Very powerful, expensive |
| Tier 5 | Furnace Level 21+ | Endgame elite troops |
Higher-tier troops require more resources per unit (including Iron for T3+) and take longer to train, but deal and survive vastly more damage in combat.
Training Costs
Each troop unit costs resources to train:
- **Meat** — Primary training resource, heavily consumed
- **Wood** — Secondary training material
- **Coal** — Used for some higher-tier units
- **Iron** — Required for Tier 3+ troops
- **Training Time** — Reduced by camp levels, research, heroes, and speedups
Improving Training Speed
Training speed is influenced by:
Building Levels
Higher-level training camps reduce the time per troop unit trained.
Research
The Growth Research tree contains Training Speed technologies that apply percentage reductions to all training time.
Heroes
Heroes with Training Speed bonuses (like Smith) dramatically accelerate how fast troops are produced when assigned to the corresponding camp building.
Speedups
Training Speedups can be applied to instantly complete portions of a training queue.
Training Queue Size
The number of troops you can queue for training at once is determined by:
- Camp building level
- Research technologies expanding queue size
- VIP level bonuses
Larger queues allow you to queue up many hours of training at once and log off without wasting capacity.
Tips
- Always have troops training: Idle training capacity is wasted production — keep your queues full at all times.
- Train higher tiers when possible: Higher-tier troops are dramatically more efficient in combat per resource spent.
- Use Training Speedups for events: Training events reward points for completing training — use speedups to maximize completions.
- Assign Smith to Infantry Camp: Smith's training speed bonus is massive — always keep him assigned.
- Balance all three types: Maintaining a diverse army (all three types) avoids the counter-weakness that pure armies suffer.
- Heal before training new troops: It's always cheaper to heal existing troops than to train brand new ones.
