Hero EXP

Hero EXP (Experience Points) is the resource used to level up Heroes in Whiteout Survival. Leveling heroes improves their skills and overall effectiveness.

Overview

Each hero has an experience level that can be increased by spending Hero EXP items. As a hero's level increases, their skill values become more powerful and new skill tiers may unlock. Hero EXP is distinct from Hero Shards — EXP levels the hero, while Shards promote its star rating.

Sources of Hero EXP

Hero EXP can be obtained from:

**Daily login rewards** — Small amounts given each day
**Quest completions** — Both daily and main story quests
**Event rewards** — Bear Hunt, State vs State, and other events
**Alliance gifts** — Alliance leaders can distribute EXP items to members
**In-game store** — Hero EXP packs available for Gems or real currency

Hero EXP Items

Hero EXP comes in item form:

Small Hero EXP	Low
Medium Hero EXP	Moderate
Large Hero EXP	High
Premium Hero EXP	Very High

Higher-tier EXP items are rarer but much more efficient.

Level Caps and Star Ratings

Hero levels are capped by the hero's current star rating. To level a hero beyond the current cap, you must first promote them by spending Hero Shards. The progression is:

1★ → Level cap at a low threshold
2★ → Higher level cap unlocked
3★ → Further increase
4★ → Significant cap increase
5★ and beyond → Maximum levels available

This means star promotion and EXP leveling are both required for maximum hero power.

Prioritizing EXP

Since Hero EXP is a limited resource, spend it wisely:

**Prioritize core heroes** — Focus on Smith, Eugene, Cloris, and Charlie before leveling utility or situational heroes
**Level heroes evenly with their star tier** — There's no benefit to having more EXP than your current star cap allows
**Promote before leveling more** — Always spend available shards to raise the star cap before spending more EXP

Tips

Don't waste EXP on capped heroes: If a hero is at their star level cap, spending more EXP is wasted — promote with shards first.
Focus on your main four: The four core heroes (Smith, Eugene, Cloris, Charlie) provide the most city-wide value — max them first.
Collect EXP daily: Small amounts from logins and quests compound significantly — claim them every day.
Use EXP before events: Some events score points for hero leveling — save a batch of EXP items to spend during these events.
