Infirmary

From WOS Forge Wiki

The Infirmary is a critical defensive building in Whiteout Survival that heals wounded troops after battle. Keeping the Infirmary upgraded is essential for minimizing permanent troop losses during combat.

Overview

When troops are defeated in battle, they do not immediately die — instead, they become wounded and are transported to the Infirmary for recovery. The Infirmary has a limited capacity; troops that exceed this capacity are permanently lost.

Key Functions

Healing Wounded Troops

  • Wounded troops automatically begin recovering in the Infirmary after a battle
  • Recovery takes time (reduced by research and other bonuses)
  • Fully recovered troops return to your army automatically

Infirmary Capacity

The Infirmary's most important stat is its capacity — the maximum number of wounded troops it can hold at one time:

  • Troops within capacity: Saved and will recover
  • Troops exceeding capacity: Permanently lost

Higher Infirmary levels dramatically increase capacity.

Upgrade Priority

The Infirmary should be upgraded regularly because:

  1. Troop losses are permanent if capacity is exceeded — This is an irreversible consequence
  2. Higher-level cities deploy more troops, requiring larger Infirmary capacity
  3. SvS and other combat events can cause massive casualties quickly
  4. Having insufficient Infirmary capacity during events leads to permanent army losses

Critical Rule: Always Heal Before Combat

Before participating in major combat events (especially SvS), ensure your Infirmary:

  • Is at maximum level (matching your Furnace level)
  • Has empty capacity (healed all previous wounded troops)
  • Is not filling up with wounded from other sources

If your Infirmary is already full when your troops return from a lost battle, all additional wounded troops are permanently gone.

Upgrade Requirements

Like all buildings, the Infirmary can only be upgraded to the current Furnace level. Upgrades require Meat, Wood, Coal, and Iron.

Tips

  • Never neglect the Infirmary — it should match your Furnace level at all times
  • Before major battles (especially SvS), ensure your Infirmary is empty (heal all current wounded)
  • Upgrade the Infirmary immediately if you've been in recent battles that filled it
  • If going offline during an active war period, ensure your troops are in a safe position or your Infirmary has free capacity
  • Some research technologies reduce healing time — invest in these to recover troops faster
