Game Mechanics covers the core systems of Whiteout Survival: combat, marching, alliance play, events, and progression.
Combat
Counter Triangle
The three troop types counter each other in a rock-paper-scissors system. Each type deals +10% ATK against the type it counters.
| Type | Beats | Loses to |
|---|---|---|
| Infantry | Lancer | Marksman |
| Lancer | Marksman | Infantry |
| Marksman | Infantry | Lancer |
The +10% bonus applies to the attacker's ATK. The disadvantaged type does not receive a direct penalty, but the power differential is significant in mixed combat.
Combat Stats
Every troop has seven statistics:
| Stat | Description |
|---|---|
| Power | Overall combat score (composite indicator) |
| Defense | Reduces incoming damage in combat |
| Attack | Determines damage dealt |
| Health | Total damage the troop can absorb before being killed or hospitalized |
| Lethality | Bypasses a portion of enemy Defense |
| Speed | Movement speed on the map (always 11 for every tier and type) |
| Load | Resource carrying capacity during gathering marches |
Hospitalization vs. Death
Troops defeated in combat are either hospitalized (recoverable in the Infirmary) or killed (permanently lost if the Infirmary is full). Keeping the Infirmary upgraded reduces permanent losses.
Marching
Players send marches from their city to:
- Attack enemy cities or resource tiles
- Reinforce alliance members
- Gather resources from resource tiles on the world map
- Scout enemy positions
March capacity (number of simultaneous marches) is increased by the Command Center.
Alliance
Territory
Alliances can claim territory on the world map. Territory provides buffs to members and unlocks access to alliance buildings.
Alliance Technology (Tech)
Alliances research technologies that provide buffs to all members. Contributions are made using Alliance Coins.
Fortress
Alliance Fortresses are key strategic positions on the map that provide significant bonuses to the controlling alliance.
Facility
Alliance Facilities (such as the Tundra Lab) provide additional research and bonuses for the alliance.
Events
Bear Hunt
A co-op event where alliance members collectively attack a giant bear boss. Damage dealt contributes to alliance rewards.
State vs. State (SvS)
A large-scale PvP event where two entire game states (servers) compete against each other across multiple combat scenarios.
Polar Terror
A periodic event where players fight a special monster for individual and alliance rewards.
Exploration (Story Mode)
Single-player story missions where heroes fight turn-based battles. Progress unlocks hero shards and other rewards.
Expedition
A PvE mode using Heroes in their Expedition stat configuration to battle through stages.
Progression
The primary progression gate in Whiteout Survival is the Furnace level. Upgrading the Furnace:
- Unlocks new buildings
- Increases maximum level caps for all other buildings
- Increases total Building Power
- Unlocks higher troop tiers (indirectly via camp upgrades)
| Furnace Level | Key Unlocks |
|---|---|
| 1 | Starting buildings, Enlistment Office, Storehouse, Barricade |
| 7 | Infantry Camp |
| 8 | Embassy, Marksman Camp |
| 9 | Infirmary, Lancer Camp |
| 10 | Research Center, troop T10 |
| 11 | Troop T11 (with camp upgrades) |
| 12 | Command Center |
| 30 | Fire Crystal tier buildings, troop FC1–FC10 |
