Heroes are powerful characters in Whiteout Survival that provide unique skills and stat bonuses to your city, troops, and alliance. Each hero has a specific rarity, class, and sub-class that defines their role and abilities.

Hero Rarities

Heroes come in four rarity tiers, from lowest to highest:

  • Rare — Beginner-friendly heroes, easier to acquire and upgrade
  • Epic — Mid-tier heroes with strong utility skills
  • Legendary — High-power heroes with impactful passive and active abilities
  • Mythic — The rarest and most powerful heroes in the game

Hero Classes

Each hero belongs to one of two main classes:

  • Combat — Heroes focused on military and battle enhancements (attack, defense, HP boosts for troops)
  • Development — Heroes focused on city growth (construction speed, research speed, resource gathering)

Core Heroes

These are the primary heroes available to all players:

Smith

Smith is a melee-focused combat hero specializing in Infantry units. He provides bonuses to Infantry attack and defense and is one of the first heroes players acquire.

  • Class: Combat
  • Sub-class: Infantry
  • Key Skills: Infantry ATK boost, Infantry DEF boost

Eugene

Eugene is a development hero who specializes in construction and city growth. His skills reduce building time and construction costs.

  • Class: Development
  • Sub-class: Construction

Charlie

Charlie is a combat hero who supports Lancer-type troops. He provides Lancer attack and HP bonuses.

Cloris

Cloris is a development hero focused on research and technology. Her skills accelerate research speed and reduce research costs.

  • Class: Development
  • Sub-class: Research

Epic Heroes

Epic heroes are mid-tier heroes obtainable through the hero recruitment system. Known Epic heroes include:

  • Sergey — Combat hero
  • Jessie — Combat hero
  • Patrick — Combat hero
  • Lumak Bokan — Combat hero
  • Ling Xue — Development hero
  • Gina — Development hero
  • Bahiti — Combat hero
  • Jasser — Combat hero

Seasonal Heroes (S1–S16)

Seasonal heroes are special limited-time heroes released during specific game seasons. They are typically of Legendary or Mythic rarity and offer powerful bonuses not available from standard heroes.

  • S1 through S16 — Seasonal heroes released over the game's lifespan
  • These heroes are obtained through seasonal events, passes, and limited-time recruitment banners
  • Seasonal heroes often have unique mechanics tied to specific troop types or game modes

Hero Shards

Heroes are unlocked and upgraded using Hero Shards:

  • Collect shards specific to each hero through events, recruitment, and chests
  • Unlock: Requires a set number of shards (varies by rarity)
  • Star Upgrade: Additional shards are needed to raise a hero's star level (1★ to 5★)
  • Higher star levels unlock more powerful skill tiers

Hero Skills

Each hero has multiple skills that activate at different star levels:

  • Skill 1 — Unlocked at 1★
  • Skill 2 — Unlocked at 2★
  • Skill 3 — Unlocked at 3★
  • Skill 4 — Unlocked at 4★ or 5★

Skills may be passive bonuses or active buffs triggered during specific events (such as marching, defending, or gathering).

Hero Gears

Heroes can be equipped with Hero Gear to further boost their stats. Gear is crafted using materials obtained from various in-game activities.

Tips

  • Focus on leveling up a small number of heroes rather than spreading resources thin.
  • Prioritize a mix of Combat and Development heroes for balanced progression.
  • Development heroes like Eugene and Cloris are extremely valuable early-game for faster city and research growth.
  • Star level dramatically increases a hero's power — push your main heroes to 5★ as a priority.
  • In combat situations, heroes with troop type bonuses matching your army composition provide the greatest advantage.
