Research

Research is a core progression system in Whiteout Survival. By spending resources and time in the Research Center, players unlock and upgrade technologies that improve their city, military, and economy. Research is divided into three main trees: Battle, Growth, and Economy.

Research Trees

Battle Research

Battle research improves your military capabilities, including troop stats, combat skills, and advanced military technologies.

Tier 1 Battle Technologies:

  • Lancer Armor I — Increases Lancer defense
  • Marksman Armor I — Increases Marksman defense
  • Lancer Upgrade I — Improves Lancer attack
  • Targeted Sniping I — Increases Marksman precision
  • Regimental Expansion I — Increases troop capacity
  • Assault Techniques I — Improves attack strategies
  • Survival Techniques I — Increases troop survivability
  • Bulwark Formations I — Improves defensive formations
  • Picket Lines I — Improves troop positioning
  • Shield Upgrade I — Increases Infantry defense
  • Defensive Formation I — Improves defensive tactics
  • Skirmishing I — Increases skirmish effectiveness
  • Precision Targeting I — Increases ranged accuracy
  • Close Combat I — Improves melee combat
  • Reprisal Tactics I — Improves counterattack effectiveness
  • Special Defensive Training I — Unlocks advanced defensive capabilities
  • Weapons I — Upgrades troop weapons

Research tiers go from Tier 1 through Tier 6 and beyond, with each tier requiring higher-level buildings and resources.

Growth Research

Growth research focuses on city development, population, and construction improvements. These technologies speed up building times, expand your city's capacity, and improve construction efficiency.

Key growth technologies include:

  • Construction speed improvements
  • Building cost reductions
  • City power upgrades
  • Population capacity expansion
  • Hero experience boosts

Economy Research

Economy research enhances resource production, gathering rates, and storage capacity. This tree is essential for sustaining your city's growth and military.

Key economy technologies include:

  • Resource production boosts (Meat, Wood, Coal, Iron)
  • Gathering speed improvements
  • Storage capacity increases
  • Troop training cost reductions
  • Energy production enhancements

Advanced Research Trees

Beyond the standard three trees, high-level players can access specialized research for advanced troop tiers:

  • T11 Infantry Research — Unlocks and improves Tier 11 Infantry
  • T11 Marksman Research — Unlocks and improves Tier 11 Marksmen
  • T11 Lancer Research — Unlocks and improves Tier 11 Lancers
  • T12 Marksman Research — Unlocks and improves Tier 12 Marksmen
  • T12 Infantry Research — Unlocks and improves Tier 12 Infantry
  • T12 Lancer Research — Unlocks and improves Tier 12 Lancers

Research Center

Research is conducted in the Research Center building. A higher-level Research Center unlocks more advanced technologies and reduces research time. The Research Center requires Furnace power to operate.

Tips

  • Focus Battle Research for competitive play in State vs. State (SvS) events.
  • Economy Research is crucial early-game to sustain resource production.
  • Growth Research helps speed up city development and reduces construction wait times.
  • Use Speed-Up items to accelerate research when targeting key technologies.
  • Coordinate with your alliance to prioritize the same research paths for collective strength.
