Gear Materials
More actions
Gear Materials are the crafting components required to create and upgrade Hero Gear and Chief Gear in Whiteout Survival. They are collected from various in-game activities and consumed during the gear crafting process.
Overview
Crafting powerful gear requires specific materials. Different gear sets use different material types, and higher-quality gear pieces require rarer, harder-to-obtain materials. Managing your gear material inventory is a key part of endgame progression.
Material Tiers
Gear materials come in different quality tiers that correspond to the gear quality they can produce:
| Material Tier | Gear Quality | Rarity |
|---|---|---|
| White (Common) | White/Gray Gear | Very Common |
| Green (Uncommon) | Green Gear | Common |
| Blue (Rare) | Blue Gear | Moderate |
| Purple (Epic) | Purple Gear | Uncommon |
| Gold (Legendary) | Gold Gear | Rare |
Higher-tier materials are significantly rarer and produce significantly more powerful gear.
Sources of Gear Materials
Materials can be obtained from multiple sources:
Event Rewards
- Bear Hunt event shop and rankings
- State vs State event rewards
- Personal event completion rewards
Daily and Weekly Activities
- Daily mission rewards (small quantities)
- Alliance event participation
- Chest openings from various events
Resource Conversion
- Salvaging (dismantling) unwanted gear pieces may return some materials
- Some in-game stores sell specific material types for Gems or event currency
World Map
- Certain world map activities and exploration may yield material drops
Using Gear Materials
Crafting
To craft gear, navigate to the Gear section (accessible through the Smith building or gear menu). Select the desired gear piece and spend the required materials. Crafting higher-quality gear requires:
- More materials per piece
- Rarer material tiers
- Sometimes specific material types unique to that gear set
Upgrading
Existing gear pieces can sometimes be upgraded to higher quality tiers by spending additional materials, rather than crafting a new piece from scratch.
Gear Sets and Material Requirements
Different gear sets use different material types:
- **Combat Gear** — Primarily military-themed materials
- **Gathering Gear** — Resource and tool-themed materials
- **Construction Gear** — Building-themed materials
- **Development Gear** — Research and science-themed materials
Always check the crafting requirements before committing to a gear set — some sets require materials from specific events.
Tips
- Focus one gear set at a time: Spreading materials across multiple gear sets leaves you with no complete set — full sets typically provide synergy bonuses.
- Prioritize gathering gear early: A Gathering gear set dramatically increases resource collection and pays for itself quickly.
- Save rare materials: Gold/Legendary materials are scarce — don't spend them on low-priority pieces.
- Check event shops: Specific event shops often sell targeted gear materials — know what you need and buy accordingly.
- Don't dismantle gear prematurely: Dismantling gear for materials often returns less value than keeping the gear — wait until you have a clearly superior replacement.
