Experts

Experts are special companion characters in Whiteout Survival that provide passive bonuses to your troops and unlock powerful event-specific abilities. Unlike Heroes, Experts are not sent on marches — their bonuses are always active and scale with affinity level and skill upgrades.

Overview

Each Expert specializes in a particular game mode or event and provides:

Base Bonuses — Permanent troop stat increases (Attack, Defense, Lethality, Health)
Skills (4 per Expert) — Specific bonuses tied to events or gameplay modes, upgradable with Books of Knowledge
Talent — A signature ability unlocked at a high affinity level
Affinity System — A 100-level progression that scales base bonuses incrementally

Acquiring Experts

Experts are obtained through dedicated recruitment systems and specific in-game events. Upgrading requires:

Affinity Points — Progresses the Expert level (1-100), scaling base bonuses
Books of Knowledge — Used to level individual skills
Expert Sigils — Special upgrade materials unlocked at affinity milestones

Treks

Experts are met on treks, which open with the Dawn Academy. Each trek is one encounter along the way, and encounters are what pay for an expert's progress: affinity, Sigils and Books of Knowledge.

Two kinds of supply trigger them. A Tundra Supply starts one Tundra Trek encounter; a Frontier Supply starts one Frontier Trek encounter. The same principle, two different stocks.

Tundra Supplies come in daily: 20 automatically at 00:00 UTC, then 10 more to claim by hand at 08:00 and again at 16:00 UTC — 40 a day for free. 5 more can be bought for 1,000 Gems, up to 4 times a day.

In the Endless Wayfarer pass, a Frontier Trek counts 3 points against 1 for a Tundra Trek.

Sigils

Experts have Sigils of their own, one to a name, and a Sigil advances the relationship with the Expert it belongs to. A Common Expert Sigil is the wild card: it converts into whichever Sigil the Chief chooses.

A Sigil keeps a use after the relationship is at its maximum — it is then spent on Expert Research.

How affinity scales

Every Expert follows the same curve, whatever their maximum bonus. Affinity level 1 already grants a tenth and a half of the maximum; each further level adds half a percent of it; and every tenth level — an Advancement — adds four and a half percent of it instead. Ninety ordinary steps and ten Advancements later, level 100 lands exactly on the maximum.

Baldur, whose maximum is 10%, therefore starts at 1.05% and climbs by 0.05% a level and 0.45% an Advancement; Gareth, whose maximum is 30%, starts at 3.15% and climbs by 0.15% and 1.35%. The rule holds for all ten Experts.

What differs from one Expert to the next is the price. Reaching level 100 costs about 172,000 affinity for Cyrille, 206,000 for Agnes, 342,000 for Baldur, 513,000 for Holger and Ronne, 769,000 for Kathy, 854,000 for Fabian, 940,000 for Romulus, 1,571,000 for Valeria and about 2,561,000 for Gareth.
