Intel missions are daily tasks in Whiteout Survival offered through the Lighthouse. A fresh set of missions appears three times per day and rewards players with a wide range of development materials.
How it works
Intel missions appear in the Lighthouse and refresh three times per day (typically at 00:00, 08:00 and 16:00 server time). Each refresh provides a new set of missions, which remain available for a limited window before the next refresh.
Once every available mission has been done, no more appear until the next reset.
The Searchlight
How many missions appear, and how good they are, is set by the Lighthouse's Searchlight, which is upgraded by completing missions and tops out at level 20. A higher Searchlight surfaces more missions on each refresh and raises their quality, and better missions pay better. It is the one lever the player has on Intel.
The Expert Agnes adds to the count directly: her Efficient Recon skill grants 8 additional Intel missions a day at its maximum level.
Mission types
Intel missions fall into three standard groups:
- Survivor Rescue -- travel to a marked location to help stranded survivors, granting troops, resources and settlement rewards.
- Beast Hunts -- send a formation to attack a beast on the world map (see Beast Hunt); these usually consume Chief Stamina.
- A Hero's Journey -- investigation-style battles in which Heroes fight their way through a building, rewarding Hero EXP items, skill manuals, Hero Shards and Hero Gear materials.
Limited-time events can temporarily add special Intel targets, such as the Firebeasts of the Flame and Fangs event.
Bounty challenges (Rookie and Advanced) are a separate activity, not one of the three Intel groups and not part of the three-times-daily refresh. They are often done in the same sitting because both they and Intel beast hunts spend Chief Stamina.
Rewards
Completing Intel missions yields Hero Shards, Hero EXP, skill manuals, troop reinforcements, resources, Speedups and Hero Gear.
Lighthouse Intel is a listed shard source for a number of heroes -- among them Bahiti, Charlie, Eugene, Jessie, Molly, Patrick, Sergey and Smith -- which makes it one of the few ways to collect shards without spending anything.
Events that count Intel missions
Several events tally missions completed, so an Intel day is rarely wasted: Beast Whisperer asks for 10, 25, 40, 55 then 70 of them on its second day, State Merge for 1, 5, 10, 20, 30, 50, 70 then 100, Return to Tundra for 5, 10, 15, 20 then 30, Symphony of Changes for 15, and Tundra Adventure for 5 in one mission and 15 in another.
