Lore
Patrick was Masterchef of Sunfire Castle, a cook recognised by the President and by local nobles of every stripe, who spent most of his life developing, researching and cooking the best dishes in the world in the belief that good food lifts the spirit.
The collapse of the Solaris royal family ended that position. Without the royal pantry he had to scramble for ingredients in the Cities, and the inventive cuisine he makes there is still compared to the finest of the old world — though new ingredients can defeat even a seasoned chef, as Bahiti can attest.
Fighting became a necessity against pantry thieves and resource hunters, and Patrick turned out to be a decent fighter: a lifetime handling knives of every kind, the strength and stamina to use them, and an intuition honed in a busy kitchen. The moment he considers the most meaningful of his career came after the fall of Sunfire Castle, when he and several other public servants were trapped in a makeshift shelter with the supplies running out. He went to great lengths to make the group's last meal a happy one, and the warmth of it carried them through the snowstorm to a new shelter.
