Drill Camp

Drill Camp is the system that lets a Chief raise a handful of heroes and pull the rest along behind them. It unlocks when the Furnace reaches level 13, and it has two halves: Level Drills and Level Resets.

Level Drills

The five strongest heroes — strongest by level, not by hero gear — become drill instructors on their own. Any hero placed in a drill slot then rises by itself to the lowest level among those five instructors. Levelling five heroes therefore levels every hero in a slot, and the Hero EXP is spent only once.

Drill slots open as the Furnace climbs from level 13 to level 30, up to 15 of them. They come one per Furnace level at first, then every few levels further on.

A hero can be taken out of a slot, but the slot itself then waits 24 hours before it can be filled again, and that wait cannot be shortened with gems. A hero out on deployment — gathering, hunting beasts or Polar Terrors, or in battle — cannot be taken out of its slot at all.

Level Resets

Once every slot is full, further heroes have to be levelled by hand, and Hero EXP spent on the wrong one is not lost: a hero's level can be reset, freeing that experience for another.

A hero out on deployment cannot be reset. And once a hero has been reset and levelled again, it cannot be reset for another 24 hours — a wait that, unlike the drill slot's, can be shortened with gems.
