Pets are companion creatures in Whiteout Survival that provide passive bonuses to your city, troops, and Chief. They are part of the Gears system and can be acquired, leveled up, and evolved to become increasingly powerful.

Overview

Pets serve as additional stat boosters alongside Hero Gear and Heroes. Each pet has a unique appearance and a set of passive skills that activate based on the pet's level and evolution stage. Unlike heroes, pets cannot be sent on marches — their bonuses are always active.

Acquiring Pets

Pets are not chosen: they are unlocked in a fixed chain. Each one asks for a number of days since the state opened, and for the previous pet to have reached a given level — so the order below is the order every player follows. The last column is the highest refinement that pet can reach.

The pet system unlocks when you build the Beast Cage, which requires Furnace Level 18 and a state age of around 55 days. Pets are then tamed in sequence at the Beast Cage — starting with the Cave Hyena — with each new pet unlocking once the previous one reaches a set level — Level 15 up to Cave Lion, then Level 30. Pet shards and upgrade materials can also be obtained from:

Pet Chests — Opened with keys or directly purchased
Events — Certain events reward pet shards or full pets
Alliance Shop — Some pets available for Alliance Tokens
Special Activities — Bear Hunt and other activities can drop pet materials

Pet Types and Roles

Each pet has a single skill, and those skills fall into two groups:

Combat Pets

Strengthen your troops or weaken the enemy's:

Troop attack — Cave Lion
Troop defense — Mammoth
Troop health — Frost Gorilla
Troop lethality — Sabertooth Tiger
Enemy health reduced — Titan Roc; enemy defense reduced — Frostscale Chameleon
Squad capacity — Snow Ape; rally capacity — Iron Rhino; march speed — Snow Leopard

Utility Pets

Help outside battle, usually on a cooldown:

Construction speed — Cave Hyena
Chief stamina restored — Arctic Wolf
A gathering march finished instantly — Musk Ox
Items located on the map — Giant Tapir; a lost item recovered — Giant Elk

Pet Leveling

Pets are leveled up using Pet EXP and specific materials:

Higher pet levels unlock stronger versions of their skills
Pet skills activate at specific level thresholds
Maximum pet level increases as you evolve the pet

Pet Evolution

Pets can be evolved to higher star tiers using evolution materials:

Evolution dramatically increases a pet's maximum level and skill strength
Higher evolution tiers require rarer materials
Fully evolved pets provide game-changing bonuses

Notable Pets

Whiteout Survival features a range of pets, each with its own passive skills. The pets currently available are Arctic Wolf, Cave Hyena, Cave Lion, Frost Gorilla, Frostscale Chameleon, Giant Elk, Giant Tapir, Iron Rhino, Mammoth, Musk Ox, Sabertooth Tiger, Snow Ape, Snow Leopard and Titan Roc. Their materials and power per level are listed in the upgrade cost table below.
