Iron Mine
More actions
The Iron Mine produces Iron in your city. Upgrading it increases Iron output. It unlocks when the Furnace reaches Level 5. It is the fourth and last production building a player opens, after the Sawmill, the Hunter's Hut and the Coal Mine.
Production
The Iron Mine produces nothing until Survivors are assigned to its workstations; six can be assigned to it.
Six pieces of furniture can be built inside: a Forging Bench, a Mold, a Changing Room, a Garburator, a Coat Rack and a Hydraulic Press. Upgrading them raises output, shortens production time and adds building power; the workstations follow the level of the building, the rest stop at level 20, and some pieces must be maxed before the building can be raised further.
Two Economy Research lines carry the word Iron and do different things: Iron Output raises what the building produces — its first tier unlocks at Research Center level 10 and grants +8%, +8% then +11% — while the gathering line raises what marches collect on the map. The hero Smith adds up to 25% city Iron output.
Iron is also gathered outside the city, from Abandoned Smelter tiles on the world map, whose yield rises with the tile's level. Iron kept within the Storehouse's capacity cannot be plundered; anything beyond it can.
Progression
Iron Mine level 1 requires Furnace level 5, and levels 1 to 5 all keep that prerequisite. From level 6 onward each level requires the Furnace at the identical level, up to level 30.
The build cost adds one resource at a time: Wood alone for the first three levels, Coal from level 4, Iron from level 6, and Meat from level 11 — so the Iron Mine begins consuming its own product before it is half built.
Costs, construction times and building power are identical, level for level, to those of the Sawmill, the Hunter's Hut and the Coal Mine. The Iron Mine ends at level 30 and has no Fire Crystal levels.
