Coal

Coal is one of the four basic Resources in Whiteout Survival, used for building construction, research and higher-tier troop training.

Acquisition

  • Coal Mine — passive city production (unlocked at Furnace Level 3)
  • Gathering — from coal deposit tiles on the world map
  • Events & rewards — daily missions, Bear Hunt, State vs State and alliance events

The Coal Mine is the third production building a player opens. It is unlocked by Furnace Level 3, and the relationship runs both ways: Furnace Level 4 requires a Coal Mine at Level 3, and it is the first Furnace upgrade whose cost includes Coal. Six Survivors can be assigned to the mine, and the hero Charlie adds up to 25% city output.

Uses

  • Building construction and upgrades (mid-to-high levels)
  • Research across the trees
  • Training mid-to-high-tier troops

Coal is spent on upgrading buildings, conducting Research and training troops. It joins building costs at level 4, one tier after Wood.

Coal produced by the city counts as secured and cannot be plundered. Coal gathered on the world map or taken from another base is not. Protection is not equal between resources either: a level 15 Storehouse shields 3.2M Meat and Wood but only 640,000 Coal — a fifth as much.
