Lore
In the bygone era of Sunfire Castle, Zinman was renowned as "the Greatest Architect", his understanding of architectural science and art unparalleled. His designs were brilliant and his reputation outstanding, while his own appearance was a triviality he had no time for. Had the Great Chill not come, he would no doubt have reached ever greater heights in his field of study.
While many of his former colleagues settled in the nearest Cities, Zinman mysteriously vanished for several years. When he showed himself again he became a key member of the powerful Dawn Alliance, developing new defensive engineering techniques and improvements to the City Furnace, and he takes pride in these less artistic but highly practical structures. His other post-Chill inventions include shelters with enhanced snow cover and kits that convert nail guns into effective weapons.
Zinman rarely speaks of his family, though people knew of the sudden passing of his daughter. It had always been her dream to see a magnificent greenhouse full of all kinds of flowers, a project the President of Sunfire Castle approved after years of petitioning; nearly a decade of work on the unfinished building was destroyed in the chaos following the Great Chill. He could not let go of it at first, then accepted that survival had become everyone's top priority. As chief architect of the Dawn Alliance he found hope and purpose again in saving lives, families and cities, yet remains aware of the promise he never fulfilled, and still dreams of raising that greenhouse in remembrance of his family.
