Frostfire Mine
More actions
Frostfire Mine is a competitive solo PvP event in Whiteout Survival in which players battle inside a dedicated combat zone to gather Orichalcum, a rare metal used to craft Mythic and Elite gear. It requires a Furnace level of 16 or higher.
Format
Frostfire Mine runs every two weeks and lasts just 30 minutes. On the event day, players register and choose one of seven time slots — 02:00, 05:00, 11:00, 14:00, 16:00, 18:00 and 21:00 UTC, spaced unevenly rather than at a fixed interval; a missed slot can be exchanged for the next one. Inside the zone there are no allies -- even alliance members become opponents. It is a safe PvP event: troops are not lost and players' cities cannot be attacked, as all battles take place on the event map.
Troops inside the mine are unlimited and cannot be killed. Registration and the battle fall on the same day, and squads enter in the standard 33/33/33 formation.
Gameplay
Players capture mines and defeat Mine Patrols scattered across the map to earn Frostfire XP (Level 1 patrols give 75 XP, Level 2 give 150 XP), which unlocks Frostfire Skills. Gathering Orichalcum and climbing the leaderboard are the main objectives.
The map
The mine is laid out in three concentric zones: level 1 veins in the outer zone, level 2 veins in the middle one, and level 3 veins plus the Smelter in the innermost. The higher the level of a vein, the more Orichalcum it yields.
Each level of vein holds a different amount and gives it up at a different rate: a level 1 vein holds 8,640 and yields 8 per second, a level 2 vein 17,280 at 16 per second, and a level 3 vein 34,560 at 32 per second.
A fourth kind appears during the battle. The Vein Outburst holds only 4,000 but pours it out at 200 per second, and it surfaces at fixed marks — the 8th, 9th and 10th minute, then the 18th, 19th and 20th. A banner announces each one across the top of the screen sixty seconds ahead, then again ten seconds ahead.
The Smelter
The Smelter stands in the innermost zone and opens at the 7:30 mark. It pays out on the ranking of occupation time: 100,000 points for the first, then 80,000, 60,000, 55,000, 50,000, 40,000, 35,000, 30,000, 25,000 and 20,000 down to the tenth.
Frostfire Skills
The skill tree has five tiers, unlocked at 200, 500, 900, 1,500 and 2,300 cumulative Frostfire XP. Each tier offers a choice between a left and a right branch, and the choice is exclusive — taking one closes the other for that tier.
The first tier trades steady income against burst: the left branch adds 1,080 Orichalcum per minute, the right gives 1,500 Orichalcum for every patrol defeated. The second tier trades size against speed: the left branch raises the troops a single march can carry by 12,000, while the right adds 25% march speed on the battlefield — the only march speed that works inside the mine.
The third tier is the only one where both branches give the same thing, 5,000 Orichalcum once a minute, but on opposite events: the left branch pays when you take a common vein, the right when you fail to take one.
The fourth tier chooses between gathering and recovery: 15% more Orichalcum while holding a vein on the left, 30% off hero recovery time on the right.
The fifth tier unlocks the Mine Armory, a five-minute-cooldown ability that lasts 60 seconds and applies to the troops deployed while it runs: +66 damage dealt on the left, +50 gathering speed on the right.
Veins and looting
Veins of levels 1 to 3 are held by Phaethon Mine Guards and must be cleared before their Orichalcum can be gathered. Beaten guards leave Orichalcum Piles scattered around the vein, and a Chief may send a squad to collect them; that squad does not take a place in the ordinary march queue, so looting and manoeuvring can run at once.
Veins held by other Chiefs can be attacked. When a defender loses and has already gathered past a certain yield, part of their Orichalcum spills onto the ground around the vein. A Chief who loses a fight cannot use the heroes they deployed for five minutes — a sixth of the whole event.
Movement and bonuses
The Advanced Teleporter is free to use inside the mine. It goes on cooldown after each use, though further Advanced Teleporters may still be spent during that time. A Chief who leaves partway through can return from the Frostfire Mine page in the Event Center with their squad standing unchanged; while absent, they cannot scout or send troops into the wilderness.
Research, VIP, item and skin bonuses all apply inside the mine. March speed and wilderness march speed bonuses do not — with one exception: march speed granted by a Frostfire Skill does take effect.
Rewards
Rewards are split between personal gathering milestones and global ranking. High ranks grant rare items used to upgrade Hero Gear, making the event an important source of Elite and Mythic equipment materials.
