Fishing Tournament
More actions
The Fishing Tournament is a monthly solo event in Whiteout Survival in which players catch fish and rewards through a fishing mini-game. It has no Furnace level requirement, so any player can take part.
Format
The Fishing Tournament runs once a month for three days, and each edition is set in a different season from the one before — winter, spring, summer or autumn — each with its own fish, divers and items. Guidebook entries are not cleared when an event ends, so a collection begun in one season can be finished in a later one.
How it works
Players guide a hook as it descends into the water, avoiding obstacles; once it reaches its limit it pulls back up, catching whatever it passes. Four kinds of things can be caught: Fish, Divers, Chests and Items. Completing a collection in each category grants cosmetic rewards such as furnace skins, avatar frames and nameplates. The tournament has two modes: the basic Ice Fishing mode uses Bait, while the advanced Frosty Prospector mode uses Treasure Charts, one per attempt. A free chart can be claimed every day and further ones come from event packs. Inside Frosty Prospector the whole kit counts as fully upgraded whatever its real level, and special fish and sunken chests are found there and nowhere else.
Bait
Players start with 5 Bait. One Bait regenerates every three hours, up to a maximum of 10.
Equipment
What the hook brings up pays for upgrades to the Line, the Hook and the Sinker, each capped at level 10. Fully upgraded, the line reaches 550 m deep, the hook hauls up to 20 catches and the sinker starts the descent at 165 m. Multiplied casts, from ×2 to ×5, only unlock once the whole kit is at level 10, and each of them consumes as many gadgets as the multiplier chosen.
Rewards
Fishing Points earned while fishing complete a set of daily missions, which reset at server reset and pay hero enhancement components, Hero EXP and short general Speedups. The same points feed the Master Fisher leaderboard, whose ranking awards a 30-day skin, while Fishing Tokens feed the Ice Fishing Club track and its special items.
Daily missions
Five thresholds are reached in turn each day, and all five reset at server reset.
- 250 points — one 100 Enhancement XP Component, 5,000 Hero EXP, two 5-minute general Speedups
- 500 points — one 100 Enhancement XP Component, two lots of 5,000 Hero EXP, two 5-minute general speedups
- 1,000 points — one 100 Enhancement XP Component, three lots of 5,000 Hero EXP, four 5-minute general speedups
- 1,500 points — one 100 Enhancement XP Component, two lots of 10,000 Hero EXP, four 5-minute general speedups
- 2,000 points — one Lucky Hero Gear Chest, one 100 Enhancement XP Component, three lots of 10,000 Hero EXP, six 5-minute general speedups
Gadgets
Three gadgets are bought for 300 gems each, and any left over are kept for the next fishing event.
- Reel Stabilizer — keeps the line from retracting when the hook bumps into something on the way down.
- Lantern — lights the surroundings past 300 m, where the deep ocean begins.
- Ocean Scanner — reports the direction and distance of the rare fish swimming nearby.
Two more items act on a single trip: the Horn of Poseidon summons a chosen species and guarantees the catch, and the Icefisher Voucher multiplies the points and tokens of the round by 1.5.
Sunken Treasure Hunt
Once every piece of the kit has reached level 10, 1,500 Fishing Points buy one round of the Sunken Treasure Hunt.
