Brothers in Arms (BIA), also called Kill Event (KE), is a 2-day event occurring on Friday and Saturday every 4 weeks. Players earn points by injuring or killing troops of players in the same state. Once Sunfire Castle is unlocked, it will happen at the same time.

This event can be divisive — some players enjoy the war aspect, while others find it harmful to the state's smaller players.

Event Rules

Alliance leaders should negotiate rules before the event. Common considerations:

  • Tiles hitting (farming): Allowing hits on gathering troops. If permitted, it can slow down development for smaller players.
  • City attacks: If allowed, common conditions include: maximum 2 hits per city, no attacking a burning city, only attacking cities within 3 Furnace levels of the attacker.
  • Alternating days: Day 1 tiles hitting only, Day 2 city attacks with rules.

Sunfire Castle Overlap

Once Sunfire Castle is unlocked, players can earn points on Saturday on both Brothers in Arms and Sunfire Castle simultaneously. Some states choose to cancel or limit BIA as a result.

Consider arranged battles — either during BIA, or on facilities and fortresses — as an alternative to uncontrolled attacks.

What a kill is worth

Points follow the level of the troops killed or badly wounded. A level 1 or level 2 troop is worth 1 point, a level 3 troop 2 points, then 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 15 points for a level 11 troop.

The game gives notice 24 hours before the event opens. Ranking rewards go to the 100 highest-scoring Chiefs who pass 4,000 points, and the point targets themselves shift a little with the age of the state.

What a loss costs

Losses do not all land in the same place, and the split differs between attacking and defending. A failed attack loses 35% of the march for good, sends 10% to the Infirmary and returns 55% to the city lightly injured. A failed defence is gentler: 35% of the troops go to the Infirmary and 65% come back lightly injured, none of them dead. When the Infirmary is full, the surplus goes to the Enlistment Office instead.
