CadenceWeekly, in seasons of 8 weeks

Fortress Battles is a weekly alliance event in Whiteout Survival in which alliances fight for control of the large structures that anchor alliance territory. A season runs for eight weeks, and what an alliance holds at the end of one week it defends in the next.

The structures

Sixteen buildings are contested across the world map: twelve Fortresses and four Strongholds. Each carries its own rewards, which can be read by tapping it. When the eight-week season ends, every Fortress and Stronghold is reset and returns to the Phaethon Mercenaries.

Strongholds do not open in the first season: they appear about four weeks in.

Registration

The event has two stages, registration and battle. During registration, an alliance's R5 and R4 choose one Fortress and one Stronghold to fight for that week, and pick three preferred start times out of five. The final time is the slot most voted for across the state, not the one the alliance chose.

A Fortress or Stronghold won in one week is registered automatically for the next, on top of the new choice — so an alliance's holdings accumulate through the season.

Week Registered automatically Free to register
1 1 Fortress, 1 Stronghold
2 1 Fortress, 1 Stronghold 1 Fortress, 1 Stronghold
3 2 Fortresses, 2 Strongholds 1 Fortress, 1 Stronghold
4 3 Fortresses, 3 Strongholds 1 Fortress, 1 Stronghold
5 4 Fortresses, 4 Strongholds 1 Fortress
6 5 Fortresses, 4 Strongholds 1 Fortress
7 6 Fortresses, 4 Strongholds 1 Fortress
8 7 Fortresses, 4 Strongholds 1 Fortress

An alliance therefore finishes a season holding at most eight Fortresses and four Strongholds. What has been registered automatically cannot be swapped for something else.

The battle

Each structure is fought over during its own window. An alliance takes it by occupying it continuously for thirty minutes; if no alliance manages that, whoever holds it when the window closes takes control.

A Chief may leave their alliance during the battle stage, but cannot then fight for the fortresses of another alliance in the same event.

Rewards

Six kinds of reward are paid, and their conditions are not the same.

  • Victory rewards — paid only for the first capture of a structure, which is why taking it before another alliance matters.
  • Participation rewards — paid to every Chief who took part in that first capture; a rally pays all of its participants, a solo attack pays one.
  • Alliance rewards — paid to every member of the alliance that made the first capture.
  • Allocatable rewards — also earned by the first capture, but handed out by R5 and R4, with a ceiling on what one member can receive.
  • Control rewards — paid to every member of the alliance that still holds the structure at the end.
  • Fortress rewards — also earned by holding to the end, and distributed by R5 and R4.

Participation and alliance rewards arrive by mail as soon as the capture happens. The hero shards among the rewards depend on the state's hero generation.
