Snowbuster
More actions
Snowbuster is a mini-game event where you navigate a map, collect coal, and upgrade a furnace to survive and progress through levels. Free to Play players can reach level 22-23 if playing optimally.
How it is played
Fuel is what you spend to plough through the snow, and it is the only real limit. Under the snow are survivors, who join the team for that level, and coal, which feeds the fire — and it is the fire that regenerates your health. Beasts and snowpeople drop coal and fuel in larger amounts than the ground does, but cost fuel to reach and to kill. Clearing 95% of a level's snow unlocks a rocket.
The six bonus items
Six items turn up on the map, and they stack with one another. The Super Snowbuster widens the plough and adds 20% movement speed for 20 seconds; the Ultra Magnet widens the pick-up radius for 30 seconds; Infini-Fuel gives fuel without limit for 20 seconds; the Portable Snowshield blocks three beast attacks or bouts of snowstorm damage; the Medkit restores 40% of maximum health; and the Rocket clears every patch of snow within an area.
Fuel Optimization
These tips are the most important for maximizing your progress:
- Play as soon as possible each day to upgrade your gear early.
- Items order: when starting with accumulated fuel, upgrade gloves first then the jacket. Closer to emptying your fuel, finish with the jacket as high as possible.
- Upgrade the furnace as soon as possible — it reduces fuel consumption and increases the playable area.
- Kill beasts and the polar bear together, and only after the furnace is already upgraded.
- Move in an arc (and also while killing snowmen).
General Tips
- Most of the time the Elk is worth pursuing — try to kill it close to some deep snow or ice.
- You can leave some coal on the floor if picking it up costs more fuel than it is worth, and you know a magnet is coming soon.
- Combine Buster updates with unlimited fuel buffs when possible.
- Clear the snow and light blue ice (NOT the dark blue ice) to unlock early furnace levels.
- Rush directly towards rockets when possible and trigger them immediately.
- Do NOT collect chests or NPCs when you have buffs active.
- Dying is not free: if Buster reaches zero health he drops all the coal he is carrying and only 90% can be picked back up, and active buffs are lost. Coal already fed to the fire is safe.
- Before the end of the event: if you cannot finish the last level, focus on killing beasts to increase your chances.
- Snowmen give a lot of coal — get them as soon as possible to upgrade the furnace.
- Survivors give +10% range.
- Keep the polar bear and beasts for later and pull them together.
- Map fragments can be kept between events.
