Frosty Fortune is a recurring event that happens approximately every 4 weeks (sometimes delayed to 6-8 weeks when a seasonal event takes priority). It appears less frequently in early generations.
How it works
Complete daily tasks -- train troops, use Golden Keys, do daily missions, etc. -- to earn Gems of Enigma, the event currency. Gems of Enigma can be kept between events.
Use Gems of Enigma to open chests. Inside chests you can find Thorns of Enigma (also called Roses). Thorns are used to buy items in the event shop. Thorns of Enigma cannot be kept between events -- spend them before the event ends.

Every pack also carries VIP Points — 500 at $0.99, then 1,500, 2,500, 4,000, 6,000, 12,000 and 20,000 at $99.99 — along with an Alliance Gift, level 1 on the three cheapest packs and rising to level 5 on the largest. The $99.99 pack may be bought three times, and all packs reset daily.
Chests
Gems of Enigma open chests, which come in three kinds: silver is the Regular chest, gold the Exquisite one and red the Splendid one. Three refreshes are free, after which a refresh costs 90 Gems of Enigma. Opening chests unlocks rewards of its own, at 5, 10, 20, 30 and 50 chests opened.
Gems of Enigma are earned from the Treasure Hunt Drill, whose daily missions reset at 00:00 UTC; a pack at $4.99 doubles what the drill pays. The Emporium of Enigma, where Thorns are spent, carries three different stock lists depending on the state's generation.

Research by community member Tk235 (Official Discord) ranks the following strategies from worst to best:
- Open all chests
- If no red chests and free skip available: open only gold chest and skip; otherwise open everything
- If no red chests and skip available (free or paid): open only gold chest and skip; otherwise open everything
- Open only red and gold chests (refresh even if it costs Gems)
- Open only red and gold chests (refresh even if it costs Gems). If 3 or fewer silver chests remain, open all. -- Best for City Skin
- Open only red chests (refresh even if it costs Gems)

- City Skin: Strategy 5 -- Open only red and gold chests; refresh even if it costs Gems. If there are 3 or fewer silver chests, open all.

Buying a City Skin on a Budget
Strategy 1 -- Cheap with patience:
- Purchase only the Treasure Hunt Drill ($5 per event)
- Takes 8-9 events to unlock the city skin
- Total cost: $40-$45
Strategy 2 -- Efficient and faster:
- Purchase: Hunter Drill Pack + $1 daily + $3 daily
- Safe after 3-5 events (4-5 recommended)
- Cost per event: ~$25
- Total cost: $75-$125
Note: You only receive the city skin itself (plus a few milestone rewards).
